Mehmet Akif Ersoy Unviersity (MAKU) is in Burdur, a city which is located in the Mediterranean Region. Though MAKU was established in 2006, it is a rapidly developing university with its three faculties: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Veterinary and Faculty of Science and Humanities; and three institutes: Graduate School of Science, Graduate School of Social Sciences and Graduate School of Health Sciences. Along with these faculties and institutes, MAKU has four vocational high schools: Burdur Vocational High School, Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational High School, Golhisar Vocational High School, Bucak Emin Gulmez Vocational High School.
MAKU was accepted to ERASMUS family in the second half of the year 2006 and immediately started student and staff exchange programs within the framework of LLP with a number of universities from Poland, Slovakia, Germany and Spain. One of the objectives of our office is to increase the number of the cooperating universities in Europe in order to help Turkish students to be acquainted with the cultural elements of European nations along with helping students from those countries to be familiar with Turkish culture. We believe that LLP/ Erasmus program is one of the best planes on which individuals from different countries can share a common experience and it is this experience that will establish a peaceful continent.
