Erasmus+ Program (In the Field of Higher Education Erasmus+)

 

The grant supports provided in the field of higher education under the Lifelong Learning Program, which was conducted by the European Union Commission between 2007-2013 and ended as of 2014, will continue under the Erasmus+ Program between 2021-2027.

 

The Erasmus+ Program aims to offer more effective tools that promote cooperation between different sectors in line with the Europe 2020 Strategy objectives, addressing new needs in the fields of education, youth, and sports.

Specifically for the field of higher education, it aims to enhance quality in higher education and strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions and the business world. 

 

The target audience of Erasmus+ Erasmus activities, in the broadest sense, includes institutions and organizations involved in higher education, as well as the staff and students of these institutions. Applications can only be made by institutions and organizations, depending on the type of project, to our Presidency or to the Educational, Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency, which is the relevant unit of the EU Commission. Individual applications are not accepted.

 

Learning Mobility of Higher Education Students and Staff 

 

With this activity under the Key Action 1 (KA1) of Individual Learning Mobility, it is aimed to develop the competencies of higher education students and staff and to offer them professional development opportunities abroad. In this context, the following activities are supported to increase the overseas education opportunities of individuals continuing their higher education, to equip them with the skills they need to transition from education to work life; and for higher education staff, to obtain practical work knowledge or enhance their pedagogical skills:

 

  • Student Mobility: University students studying at a higher education institution abroad or doing an internship at a company or any institution/organization abroad
  •  
  • Staff Mobility: Academic staff of higher education institutions or staff working in businesses giving lectures at a higher education institution abroad, or all academic and administrative staff of higher education institutions participating in a course/training abroad for their professional development (excluding conferences) or doing job shadowing/observation.
Who are the Suitable Participants?

The beneficiaries of this activity are the students and staff of higher education institutions.  However, the application must be made by the higher education institution or the national higher education mobility consortium coordinator. Individual applications are not accepted.

Which Organizations Are Suitable?

To apply as a higher education institution; It is necessary to be a higher education institution established in the Program country and holding an “Erasmus Charter for Higher Education” (ECHE).

 

To apply as a National Mobility Consortium; It is necessary to be a coordinating organization established in the Program country and holding a Higher Education Mobility Consortium Certificate. Organizations without a valid Mobility Consortium Certificate can apply for this document at the same time when applying for a mobility project grant.

 

Higher education students and staff cannot apply directly to our Presidency for a grant. Applications must be made to the higher education institution where they are registered/affiliated.

The mobility activity of higher education students and staff must include at least one sending and at least one host organization, both established in Program Countries.

 

According to the type of activity;

 

  • In student mobility for studies; both sending and host organizations must be higher education institutions holding an ECHE.
  • In student mobility for traineeships; the sending organization must be a higher education institution holding an ECHE. The host organization can be a public or private organization operating in the labor market or in the field of education.
  • In staff mobility for teaching; the host organization must be a higher education institution holding an ECHE. The sending organization can be a public or private organization operating in the labor market or in the field of education.
  • In staff mobility for training; the sending organization must be a higher education institution holding an ECHE. The host organization can be a higher education institution holding an ECHE or a public or private organization operating in the labor market or in the field of education.
What Are the Duties of Participating Organizations?

In the mobility project, the participating organizations undertake the following roles and responsibilities:

 

  • Sending organization: Responsible for the selection and sending of students and staff abroad. This task includes grant payments, preparation for the mobility period, monitoring, and recognition.
  • Host organization: Obliged to accept students/staff coming from abroad and propose them a training/internship or activity program.
What is the Project Duration?

Within the framework of the type of project objectives and planned activities, the project duration can be 16 or 24 months, provided that it is selected at the application stage.

What Are the Activity Durations?

The duration of the activity varies according to the type of activity:

 

  • In student mobility for education; 3 to 12 months
  • In student mobility for internship; 2 to 12 months
  • In staff mobility for teaching/training; excluding travel times, it can be from 2 days to 2 months. In any case, an activity for teaching must include at least 8 hours of teaching activity in stays of a week or shorter.
